Hi! My name is Jacob, and I'm a developer living in Sweden with my wife, son, and two cats.
My journey into web development started early on, experimenting with tools like Frontpage and Dreamweaver. I was really into RPG and MMORPG games at the time, and my main motivation was building fanpages for them. Curious to understand how things actually worked, I soon switched to a text-based editor and began exploring HTML more deeply.
My passion for programming really took off after I got my hands on a PHP book, which sparked a hobby of building simple, database-driven web applications. That hobby eventually turned into a profession when I landed my first programming job as a fullstack developer at a software company in Ecuador - where I was also living at the time.
In 2015, I moved back to Sweden and joined a small consultancy, where I stayed for eight years. Since 2018, my focus has shifted mainly toward frontend development - especially mobile apps built with React Native and Expo.
Today, I work as a consultant and developer at Devoteam - Creative Tech, where I also lead the frontend competence group at the Halmstad office. From time to time, I also share ideas and knowledge through public talks and workshops, usually around mobile app development with Expo.
I'm a strong believer in open source and care deeply about writing code that is well-structured, readable, and scalable - with solid documentation to match.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, travelling, geeking out over coffee, and practicing karate.
